Wish you knew more about the AAUW Fund? Check out “The Nuts and Bolts of AAUW: What Every Member Needs to know.” HERE
Supporting AAUW’s Mission can be done by contributing to the Greatest Needs Fund (preferred) or to the news funds. Many prefer to other funds, including the Legal Advocacy Fund #3999.
Member dues account for only 12% of AAUW’s revenue. (National Life Members and 50-Year Honorary Life Members do not pay national dues. At the present time, AAUW is encouraging more members to donate, especially to the AAUW Greatest Needs Fund #9110, because donations to it are unrestricted. 96% of the Funds are restricted. That makes contributions to the Greatest Needs Fund vital to keep AAUW flexible to devote to emerging needs. The Endowments (Fellowships, and Grants are fully funded and restricted (with $100+ million in reserve). The principle is never touched. Recipients are awarded from the $5-6 million in interest produced from the endowments each year. To find out how you can support AAUW’s Mission, please email aauwlongbeach@gmail.com
- The Greatest Needs Fund is a vital source of unrestricted support that allows AAUW to respond quickly and effectively to emerging challenges and opportunities. When you support the Greatest Needs Fund, you enable AAUW to sustain core operations, advocacy efforts, and program expansion. You support initiatives like economic empowerment programs, voter engagement campaigns, and policy advocacy, ensuring AAUW can amplify its impact, adapt to evolving needs, and continue leading the fight for gender equity. Your contributions to this fund are crucial for AAUW’s agility and long-term sustainability, empowering the organization to drive meaningful change. These funds are carefully managed to maximize impact, ensuring every dollar serves AAUW’s mission.
AAUW has two new Funds.
- The Public Policy Fund is focused on increasing the impact of our Action Network through growing the number of advocates across the country and providing timely, accurate, and actionable information about our key issues. This fund helps equip branches across the country with timely, customized talking points on core policy issues like Title IX, student debt, and pay equity. Support to this fund enables AAUW to reach and energize new advocates—strengthening our collective impact in the fight for gender equity in education and the workplace.
- The Defend Higher Education Fund will enable AAUW to elevate the critical higher education issues impacting women, mobilize advocates across the country, provide strategic resources to students, staff and faculty on campus, and fuel investments in the infrastructure and technology necessary to move our mission forward. Your support ensures AAUW can effectively fight on behalf of women on campuses across the country and ensure that AAUW remains a trusted and powerful voice for equity.

DONATE HEREIn 2024-25, AAUW awarded $6 million in Fellowships and Grants to women. Only the interest is used, allowing the completed national endowments to last into perpetuity. It generally takes the interest of several fellowships and grants to fund an AAUW Fellow/Grantee. Thanks to former and present members (and friends), since its founding, AAUW Long Beach has donated over $400,000 to the AAUW Fund to complete seven endowments in honor of our branch and branch members.
Below is a list of our completed endowments. Award amounts: International Fellows $20 – 50K; American Fellows $8 – $50K; Career Development Grants $2 – $20K; Community Action Grants $3 – $10K; International Project Grants $3 – $10K; Research Publication Grants in Engineering, Medicine and Science $10K – $35K; Selected Professions $20K.
AAUW is a 501(c)3. Donations to the AAUW Fund Support many programs, including Fellowships and Grants. AAUW has awarded over $115 million in fellowships and grants to more than 13,000 scholars and organizations in 50 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and Guam and 150 countries, one of the largest scholarship programs for women in the world. Only the interest from the endowments are used to fund recipients, thus, the interest from several endowments are combined to sponsor Fellowships and Grants.
